Marriage conference and updates

Hello All,

We have been crazy busy here and fighting the  bugs that everyone is getting.

We arrived home two weeks ago from the long journey back from Colorado Springs.  We ended up driving nearly straight through as no one wanted to spend another night in a hotel.  Everyone was longing for home and their own beds.

It took several days to get calmed down and settled back into home.  About the time we got settled down, Joshua, (our youngest) had his 8th birthday.  We all had lots of fun, but by day 8 we were overwhelmed with family and friends.  Its wonderful to be loved and appreciated.

The boys started school the Monday before Thanksgiving and were able to get caught up on school and see their friends.  The boys had been doing homework from their classes most of the time we were gone, but they were still behind.  This made for many recesses inside to do more homework.  The boys had a great attitude about it and worked hard.

Just about the time we started to get focused on the marriage conference for the Spanish Church we attend - Sunshine (Renee) got sick.  She picked up a cold and ended up with a nasty cough that lasted nearly a week.  She wanted to make the ladies feel special and chose a bridal shower theme for her talk.  Many of you allowed us to borrow your items to use for decorations, we are very grateful and the room looked great. She managed to make it through the talk by prayer alone - without losing her voice.

During the chaos of preparation for the bridal shower - a realtor called at noon and wanted so show our home at 3:00 pm that same day.  We changed all our plans for massive cleaning and walked out the door with about 5 min to spare.  This was very hard on the family and we do not wish to do that again.  The realtor stated that the couple was down to 2 houses - ours and another - they ended up choosing the other.  God is good - all the time.

Back to the preparations for Sunshines talk - She typed out her talk and did a fabulous job speaking to about 30 ladies from the church.  She managed to make it through the talk by prayer alone - without losing her voice.
She was very tired and had not slept in three days.  Its always nice to know that its not by your efforts, but only by what the Lord can do in hearts.

Friday was a complete recovery day for the family. The dishwasher died, so Friday night I installed another one.  We were given a dishwasher as someone had bought a new one and we got the old one.  Way to go God on the timing!!

Saturday was my talk to the men of the church.  We had a breakfast at the church and then I spoke.  I believe that Lord used the talk and homework assignments I gave the men to HIS glory, but I felt like I went through a blender.  You know that when you learn a great truth from a great hurt that its hard to teach about it without going through it again in your mind.  I had to use my notes to keep me on track as I had a hard time focusing on where I was going from all the noise of where we had been.  Again, its nice to know that God uses all these things and changes hearts.  None of this is within my control and for that I am grateful.

Saturday night, thankfully my Mom took the kids for the evening and Sunshine and I took a long winter's nap :)

This morning was church - both of them.  We have been so blessed with two church familes that love and care for us. I cannot thank all of you enough for the time, energy, care and prayer that has been poured into our family over the last two weeks.  We are humbled and grateful to be loved in this way.

This afternoon we have 2 hours at home before we are expected at a dear friends for a time of fun and fellowship.  We are looking forward to it.  This week begins the major packing process.  Please pray for patience as we rid ourselves of most of our earthly possessions in order to gain what we cannot lose.  I have to admit that getting rid of all this stuff should be a little more fun, but its mostly a "yuck duck".  The "Yeah Duck" in it all is the realization that we cannot take it with us to Costa Rica, Ecuador or heaven.  Its been helping our family focus on what is of real importance.

This upcoming week also is a fully packed week of breakfast, lunch and dinner appointments as we attempt to say "good" goodbyes to everyone.  I would like to thank all of you for allowing us to become a small part of all of your lives.

Please continue to pray for our home to sell.   We have two people looking at it and no offers YET!

God is Good - all the time.  I am looking forward to telling all of you about the faithfulness of God in how he has dealt with our house that we are leaving behind.

Thank you all for all you have done,
